How Do Forced Air Systems Work?
Pull in hot air: The system pulls in hot air from the home.
Cool the air: The furnace or heat pump cools the air.
Force air through the ducts: A blower motor forces cooler air out through a filter and into the ductwork system.
Release conditioned air: Conditioned air is released into the rooms through the floor's ceilings, walls, or registers.
Pull in cooler air: Return ducts bring cooler air back to the furnace or heat pump to be cooled again.
Turns off: Once the thermostat detects that the room has reached the desired temperature, it shuts off.
Signs your air conditioning unit needs repair or replacement
These are the most common issues we see amongst Montana HVAC units and are signs that the unit needs repair or replacement.
INCREASED ENERGY BILL
Your energy bill will fluctuate depending on the season, but it shouldn't be an unusual increase. Suppose you notice that your bill has gotten significantly higher, that indicates issues with your AC.
REDUCED AIR FLOW
If you've noticed reduced airflow circulating rooms, this is a clear sign that your AC needs to be serviced.
AC UNIT AGE
Your HVAC system requires maintenance, especially as it ages. If your unit is around 10-15 years old and you're noticing a decrease in efficiency, it's time for service.
